Marisabel Tomey Poems

I am not what you think, I might be a little more;
Why do you not trust me...you have before!

You stay up and wait for me patiently,
...

It seems like everytime I try to explain,
your protective gear comes into play.
And I don't mind speaking very plain,
When situations do not seem to simply lay.

Mother, I Am More!

I am not what you think, I might be a little more;
Why do you not trust me...you have before!

You stay up and wait for me patiently,
Even when you are feeling helplessly sleepy.
When night falls down and the weekend sets,
I am the ONE that is put to the test.
Thank you mother for my 18 wonderful years,
Just the thought of memories bring me tears.
But not tears of sadness, oh heavens no!
They are tears of happiness, do you not know!
Because when no one had a mother to talk to,
You were there!
And when no one had a friend to bring help to,
You were there!

So why not now? Why not prom?
Do you not trust me or the world's silly boms?
Why think about the dark side of thing,
Instead lets happily enjoy everything!
And when situations tend to go bad,
Don't get all worked up and mad!
It is just the devil trying to lure you away,
When instead you should be following God's way.
Everything happens for a reason
And reasons happpen because of everything!
So let the world go about its every move
When there is, from God, no hope to loose,
And enjoy every special memorable moment of life,
You won't get it back, much less with a knife!

I will be gone easily within a one to three,
Don't be angry, it is not making me free!
I will always be tied hard to your booth,
Even when I seem to not understand YOUR truth.
But because when I sit and think about you,
My mind and body know just the RIGHT thing to do!
I know you are scared! I know you too well!
Don't think that I will stop just because you yell.
I am slowly gaining control of my life
And of course mistakes will go more than five!
But do not let that fool you, I am strong.
Just not the little girl who I used to be for so long.

If respect and honesty is what you have always taught me,
Let me show you the way with my age that things ought to be.

Love,
Marichi
