Dust
I sift through sealed windows or any tight-shut door,
I spread myself and proliferate on furniture and floor.
I'm the bane of fussy housewives who wipe me fast away
But I soon sneak back, all determined to stay.
I seep down like silent snow on places far and wide
I'm found throughout creation, that's my joy and pride.
I float in wispy drifts in the space between the stars,
My insubstantial substance is even found on Mars!
Look in any buried coffin or any ancient tomb
There you're sure to see I've quietly taken room.
Being universal I'm there because I must;
The Bible says it for me: ashes to ashes
dust to dust.
