Mogare Nyamoko Poems

One of the sunnless afternoon,
The crowd offers a sanctified sacrifice.
Seen unjustly gaining without vain
From a client not aware.
...

Tears have dried
Like a river in drought.
A bye bye I couldn't wave;
A bye bye I couldn't say
...

Now brightly it shines
Like the morning sun
But this heart, yesterday was painted
To conceal it's darkest parts.

A moment once I was,
A survivor in the world of war.
Fought endlessly nakedly without aid.
A victor I wanted to be.
...

Among the mornings
When up my eyes would crack open
And my wish to continue dreaming her ambushed,
Weak legs afraid to step down
...

6.

I fall to every temptation,
Not because I want to
Not because am too weak
But because I don't want to prove man
...

The city rots,
The aroma of refuse shoots the nose
But each individual walking on the street,
Clean he, she claim to be.
...

The sun has set again,
The moon is hidden
And the darkness rages fiercely
As tears drops like waterfalls,
...

The thorns harmless I thought,
The sweet aroma alluring
And quickly my hands plucked
The desert rose.
...

As I passed through streets,
Streets of Angels prosecuting,
Men salivated for my young body,
A body with erect mountains
...

Flames of floods

The sky has darkened again like black smoke hanging,
Thunders bellows as if in competition for a prize unseen,
...

He walks down the streets chest thumbing
Of how free he is
But he is more of a prisoner,
At least a prisoner.
...

Received is your basket of gratitude,
In solitude he lies now asleep
Till the last trumpet shall sound.
Alive left with baskets full of different fruits,
...

Today I sat in a matatu-overloaded,
Like too many potatoes in a sufuria-overheated
I sat near a handsome man,
He never spoke to me
...

15.

To the south I row,
Where torrents hit so powerful
And fear to my nerve sent
Though am eager to row
...

Today as I walked
On the road and my eyes
Rotated to the roadside,
She was there with her face shining like the sun
...

When father came home,
Weary and tired,
No one said welcome,
All we could see is things not done.
...

The month of June almost ending
and the coldness ushering the cold July felt,
July should be known as ice month.
...

Once my thought was,
the straight road I shall follow no matter what
Though darkness was loaming
I chose no shortcut.
...

20.

Almost caught up with time today,
Like a Cheetah I speeded my car to work.
But the potholes like traps
Trying to hunt my car

One of the sunnless afternoon,
The crowd offers a sanctified sacrifice.
Seen unjustly gaining without vain
From a client not aware.

Ululation of stones welcomed him home.
No time to express himself.
No one normal enough to ask why he chose his path.
The saints taking life
The saints judging democratically.

Smoke from hell's fire rising,
Up, a holy sacrifice to sanctify the sanctuary of sinners.
Holy sinners on the altar
Stoning and burning the only unholy lamb.
