i wonder if a snake
before it's time to shed it's skin
feels a bit - discomfitted
residing still therein.

at the threshhold - waiting-
the door stood - ajar -
still he, hesitating
as wound into a scar,

cirrus wisps - like phoenixes
rise from an azure sky.
listing moth-like toward the sun
as eventide draws nigh.

she deems herself a princess i suppose;
or so it seems by her demeanor.
idleness supreme
is blamed upon fragility, altho

dark thoughts in the shadows - i know
evil turns of mind;
wrong to wish him ill who has
my daughter's will confined.

tho years have passed since last i felt his breath
upon my neck or gazed his eyes into
or in the throes of passion's 'little death'
surrendered full unto his touch like dew

i dont know the meaning of the word!
