High above Everest’s peak
A spirit hovers as a nation sleeps
Gazing downward he cautiously ponders
Afraid to face reality

Contemplating, which way should I flow?
When hell breaks out, just where will I go?
The spirit is weary, the stakes are high
The body awaits the mind’s reply

Why must you park so far away
Knowing clearly where I stand
You’ve traveled extensively just to see me
Now you’re scared to hold my hand
...

I dream of nights when silence reigns
Where peace anoints what once was pain
And wonder how we now proceed
In light of all that anger feeds
...

I rather walk away with my dignity
Then endure internal humiliation
Resisting earthly and worldly temptations
Or titles that society delegates
...

Careful how you greet me
Speak softly while I smile
No need to try to read me
Or berate me like a child
...

Up early in the morning
Planning for my day
Grateful for the blessings
To rise another day
...

The baby’s crying
Wet, cold, hungry and tired
Mama’s out
Gotta feed the baby
