Where's My Daddy Poem by Mustafa Marconi

Where's My Daddy

Rating: 5.0

The baby’s crying
Wet, cold, hungry and tired
Mama’s out
Gotta feed the baby
Gotta take care of our little girl
Neighbors knocking on the door
The dog to weak to move
Mama walks in
Exhausted and frustrated
Never had to work before
Or bear the burden all alone
Use to be there for her
Do for her
Provide for her
Think I made the wrong decision

Brother use to come around
Now he’s unemployed
Doesn’t want to be a burden
Vanished with the wind
My baby ask about me
And the sister she never knew
Buried in the highlands
Under a light blue tombstone
Another innocent casualty
Of drug warfare
Mama sits quietly
Unable to express Daddy’s rage
Unable to wash the blood
Out of her mind
Baby eats and asks again
Where’s my Daddy
Mama cries
Baby cries
Daddy cries
Think I made the wrong decision
Have to spend my life in prison
Just another hopeless victim
Of drug warfare
