Tomorrow Morn, At Dawn... Translation Of Demain Des L'Aube By Victor Hugo

Tomorrow morn, at dawn, when sun whitens the plains,
I shall depart. You see, I know that you await.
I’ll go through wooded lands, I’ll go through mountain chains.
No more can I remain here if we are separate.

I’ll travel on, my eyes fixed inward on my thoughts,
Without hearing a sound, or noticing a sight,
Alone, unknown, my back hunched over, my hands crossed,
Sad, and for me the day will feel just like the night.

At nightfall, I’ll not watch the gold of the sunset,
Nor see the distant sails of ships coming to harbor,
And when I do arrive, upon your tomb I’ll set
A wreath of holly green and heather in full flower.
