This Lack Of Trust

this lack of trust,
from years of hurt and abuse
i try to let it go
but it's just no use
i get so confused
everything seems like lies
and not being able to trust
is one thing i despise.

this lack of trust
keeps me up all night
wondering, thinking..
should I give up or fight?
i want to believe
all the words that you say
i want to have faith
but it's been taken away.

this lack of trust,
i know it's upsetting,
but it's a direct result
of the pain I keep getting
when i finally give in
allow myself to believe

It was tacked to the back
of your bedroom door.
On a piece of snow white paper,
with pale blue lines, scribbled in black ink,
were the words you could never say.
Words always come too late.
The room still feels silent and still
and your smell lingers on the breeze
