The Soul's Constant Heart

Today starts, excellent and fair
An idea, a slumbering giant, awakens anew
I must seek her
She whom my soul, also, loves

I have sought the all-Mother of my happiness, all happinesses, long and long
Though find her not, yet
Amidst seething city streets, mountains of concrete or stone, surging frothy shores or in green valleys
Nor in the promise of other women's smiles

She is altogether beautiful of cheek and thigh, with no blemish on her Earth-bound foot,
An untrammelled brow, eyes of the sea eternal, breath of sweetest marigolds
Hair of the midnight moment, a dark crown to Light's own face
The very form of Woman but yet just one

Others ask: "Where has your love's desire gone, that we may seek her with you? "
Angry, I cry out: "Such a one is not for seeking by such as you! "
For only I amongst the precious living can see her; a personal, proud singleness
So it is written, so it shall be done

And still the soul's constant heart, under time the Father, beating its billion beats
Sends Love's soldier, husband of desire, seeking inner and outer marriage,
Towards his own personal legend,
Man both captured and free.
