Meeraji (25 May 1912 – 04 November 1949 / Gujranwala / British India)
Chand sitarey qaid hain saarey waqt ki bandi khane main
chand sitarey qaid hain saarey waqt ki bandi khane main
lekin main aazad hoon Saaqi! chotey sey paimaaney main
um'r hay faani, um;r hay baaqi, is ki kuch parwah hi nahi
tu ye keh dey, waqt lagey ga kitna aaney jaane main
tujh sey doori doori kab thi, paas aur door tu dhoka hain
farq nahi unmool ratan ko kho kar phir sey maane main
do pal ki thi undhi jawani, nadaani ki, bhar paya
um'r bhala kiyu beetey saari ro ro kar pachatene main
pehley apna deewana tha ab hay apna deewana
pagal-pan hay waisa hay kuch, farq nahi dewaaney main
khushiyaa.n aain? acha, aain, mujh ko kiya, ehsaan nahi
sudh budh saari bhool gaya hoon dukh k geet sunaney main
apni beeti kaise sunaain, bad-masti ki baatain hain
Meera Jee ka jewan beeta paas k ik meh-khaney main
