HAMSTERS
Hamsters
Think of the universe
Think of the scale,
Bright suns and cold moons
Small insects and whales.
Think of the children
All over the world,
Think of their bedrooms
A creature there curled,
A puffball of fluff
Quivering with fire,
Bright, beady eyes
Looking out through the wire.
Think of the pleasure
That young children get
Owning a hamster
That cutest of pets!
