Hunger pains

When hunger pains you, feed on the hunger pains,
Lost warmth returns to the wise through freezing night,
When thunder dries you, drink of its fearless rains.

The soul is sharpened fast, as the hourglass drains,
Though starving time will strive to snatch and bite,
When hunger pains you, feed on the hunger pains.

All storms dry, but while the rage remains
The strength of God is gushing from sky’s height,
When thunder dries you, drink of its fearless rains.

Wonder moves with the wind through lifeless plains,
Nature’s daily fast is twice; at twilight,
When hunger pains you, feed on the hunger pains.

The ghost within you wants to stay in chains,
Although he wills you back with dire might
When thunder dries you, drink of its fearless rains.

Wilder loves than blood can pulse the veins,
Glory’s will bursts forth in the losing fight;
When hunger pains you, feed on the hunger pains,
When thunder dries you, drink of its fearless rains.

AT last she comes, O never more
