It’s A Crazy World We Wake To

Traveling our convoluted way,
It’s a slippery slope we snake to,
For a hapless pinch of pay.

It’s an unjust place to take to,
Our true worth we cannot weigh,
An unforgiving pace to ache to,
And barely make it through each day.

It’s a fragile earth we quake to,
With faults we flirt and fray,
It’s an unholy bread we break to,
With hands that scarcely pray.

It’s a sad song to shake to,
An unrewarding game to play,
It’s a crazy world we wake to,
When love’s appeal has gone astray.

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
