meet my new jabberwocky

hey little puppy, sit
pat that
pet this
pit of snakes, that is
this one looks a lot like Syllvester Stallalone
i spelled both wrong on purpose
to be wrong

snakes = wrong
right?

wrong.

i picked up a desert snake
while walking on a bike trail in 2000.
a woman with a hot pink visor
scowled at me,
did the whole 'tsk tsk' you only write about
but it exists!

'you have a toddler in a stroller! '
said her expression.

i gave the snake to my toddler to hold
she named it 'bunny rabbit'
when it shed
she named it dead.

a little black girl yelled
'Come get some they said! '
i asked her what the fuss was about
she rolled her neck and head and said
'gimme some of your fruit snacks! '

i gave her a dollar
and told her where the nearest c-store was.
C-
store.
they don't even have crushed ice.

'make sure you ask your mom or dad
if you're allowed to go into Circle K
when the Circle is missing and they
added extra K's! ' - i hollered,

then kissed her forehead and told her good luck.
sometimes i hate white people.

poet Alfred Edward Housman

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
