Responsibility - Poem by Anders Lim

Each step I take
Burns bright inside
Shunning my virtues for the sake of pride

No regrets
No remorse
No more chains to direct my course

Am I free
I must find a way
Losing other’s trust in utter dismay

What’s more to say
What’s left to do
No one will be there to carry me through

Cries of my soul
Screams of my heart
Was I heading this way from the start

I can’t go back
Damage be done
The truthful nightmare has just begun

Responsible child
Accountable man
Now the blood is on my hands

Admitted my wrong
Confessed my sin
Relieving a load that weighs down within

Every time I speak
Each action I take
Life is mine to live, choice is mine to make
