The Choice of Me

Disgust plays in my mind
More flaws I find
If only they'd see
I hate you and me
I will never be perfect
Besides I'm not worth it
I never do appreciate
What others find great
I have the task
Of always wearing a mask
The real me you can't take
You also hate the fake
You've made me hate most things
Pain is all you bring
So the choice is up to me
Of who I will be
But still I can't rejoice
I haven't made a choice

Poem of the Day

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
Her lovely self adorning.
