The Next Part of Our Lives

We were lying in bed, staring out of the window
The rain was coming down and blurring our outlook
You turned to me for a moment and said
'I cannot wait for the next part of our lives...
The bigger house, the security, the deeper understanding'
I kept my eyes fixed out into the street
Squeezed your hand and thought to myself
I cannot wait for the next part of our lives...
The new freedom, the truer lover showing deeper understanding
But I didn't say a thing to you
Just closed my eyes and bit my lip
Feeling the floor falling out beneath me

That part is over now...
