The people you will meet but never really know

my favorite friend
has the word
wanderlust
inked across her skin

she’ll travel the world
and meet a lot
of people
who will
fall in love
with her smile

a beautiful boy
i know
worries more about
others than himself

he will fall in love
with sad girls
who won’t love him
but will think they do
because of his
delicate kisses

my closest cousin
types out words endlessly
to create people
you can’t really meet

she won’t love anyone
until she learns
her characters
won’t ever have
as much detail and history
as you and me

a sad soul
i have met
wanders through life
listening to songs

he will play his
sorrowful melodies
and sing
away all the pain
he feels but only
for the night

i am
all these people
mixed into
one

you don’t know
who i really am
don’t be discouraged
because truth be told
i am not
entirely sure either

Poem of the Day

poet Edmund Spenser

My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How comes it then that this her cold so great
Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,
But harder grows the more I her entreat?
