Time Upon A Once

Time Upon a Once...

We were over the moon,
I mean, all of us,

But now we're between
the jaws of some unnameable
thing,

Stick a knife into
the soul and watch
it bleed - dry...

Well I did try, did I,
well not all the time...

You ever tasted your own
life force?

And how about you and you
and you...

That's what it amounts too!

I mean did you ever once
blink an eye,
I mean did you ever see
the truth mottled in lies?

Time Upon a Once...

I felt addicted to human
aversion and strife,

And then I took out the knife...
And then I took out the knife...
And then I took out the knife...

And spied Hope always playing
with a rope,

And tried to let it sink in,

But it wouldn't go away,

So I pulled out the night,
and the everyday light,
until the whole sky came
crashing down on my head,

What kind of world do you
live in,

are you worked to death,

And who ever really wins?

Time Upon a Once...

I looked into my own inner
mirror and fled,

Even as a kid,
I thought it funny,
everybody's actually evil!

And the whole of life's stage
is riddled with a contemptous
fever,

C'mon they shout, get on with it,
go on, move your ass,

There's something seriously wrong
here...I thought,

And that's a good enough reason
for going right back
to the beginning...

Time Upon a Once...

Poem of the Day

poet Robert Browning

After
by Robert Browning

Take the cloak from his face, and at first
Let the corpse do its worst!

How he lies in his rights of a man!
Death has done all death can.
