Another chance just abdicated
Didn't know why at the time
Guess it's just what was easiest
At the time
That time
Thought so much
Maybe over-processed
Stuck like a flickering light
Took action
I don't think my decision was right

Being who I want to be
Doing what I tell myself I need
After all this time
It's still not easy
To understand why things are the way they are
The identity of people
The nature of situations
History
Why I do all these things that I do
Why don't I just do all that I should
All that I could and do want to
Why we're scared, unsure, and so reserved from that which we are not used to
Things that are changes and totally new
Why so biased with a negative view
Why don't I take my chances and run
And accomplish all that I know I could

Don't know why I need have these conversations
With myself
In my head

Don't know why I am all alone
When I want to be surrounded
In a crowd
I call mine
Where I'm the star
And I shine

Not the center of attention
Just a piece so recognized

Popular, intelligent
Gorgeous with that hair and fashion
Incredibly friendly
So kind and helpful
Totally outgoing
Always wearing that smile
Dancing around
Prancing around
Mastering art and language
Sarcasm and flattery

Flashing satisfaction
A vibrant air surrounds
All eyes go to her
cuz she's the coolest around

She's such a mystery
Don't know what to think
Heard that she is smart and slutty
But also heard that she's the opposite of these
Heard she's a total flirt crushing on 12 guys
Heard she is so reserved
Won't go out at night
Heard she goes around gossipping about everybody's lives
Heard she is so quiet and barely has a life
Passes as a know-it-all but she don't know a thing at all
Trying too hard
Overdoing her act

Yes, I am struggling
But I'm sincere as a matter-of-fact

I don't need your approval or acceptance
I just need to brighten this life

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
