WHEN GOD WAS A LITTLE BOY:
VISITORS POLICY SLIPS AND CASINO CHIPS:

God waited from boyhood to later become
Yahweh thus he wouldn’t chance growing up
In a world trapped in relationship to a man or
Human being becoming kinds of eventuality
Visitors often pass down concrete walkways
Looking straight ahead comforted beyond
Street corners by sure footed infrastructure
Once a week one old white man of aeons turns
Onto Rose Street a few short steps and bends
To pick up old black bags filled with embalming
Syringes union dues policy and Advertised
Sweepstakes slips fated for delivery from Main
To Wall Street - back to High Street he corners
Two diabolically separated economical realms
To disappear… on his way to cash casino chips…
Steps and doorways swing open to entries - the
Anglican Church has its ornamented stone stoup
Emptied of holy water –he pours the means of
People into the stoup as if poverty provides his
Tithing into collection plates of riches and soul-
Food - things of this world-reign were always
There - mighty in form but without positive
Attraction - no affectionate spiritual light
Moved faith to feel natural sensible virtuosity

(Lee B. Mack, When God Was A Little Boy, Page 2)

Sweeps of church porches clean away trickle
Down –that masked man is sick of mind
He licks the stone dry of pooling - emptied of
Holy water and minimum-wages denied the
Poor - he reaches the house of laws to reapply
For stricter permits issued to code citizen and
Neighbor émigrés from states of synchronicity
Of mind - exposing the practice of Anglo-voodoo
Accomplished by the white faced ecstatic
Antipathy-eroticism - allows superstition freedom
To weaken in fear before The Lord but voodoo
And the fear of it is not ever long on loyalty
Tips by fraternity brothers woo women of
The country club and offer tithes for currency.

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
