Treasure Island

World Without Books

A world without books
A sad world indeed.
Our thoughts all unspoken
On pages unseen.

A world full of thoughtful
Minds so unchained
Would languish in the ether
If in the mind they remained.

Such ends for the books
These ends will not vie.
From thought to our pens
Must all ideas fly.

And forever and ever
Our thoughts they must be
Archived in the books for
Waiting minds to set free.

How else will our thoughts
Enrich the lives of others.
Nurturing young minds
Like the love of a mother.

No Kindle, nor Ipad
Can ever replace
The sweet smell of pages
In books on the case.

The covers all worn
With the care lines of use.
To relegate them to obsolescence
Is the highest abuse.

Our books so loved
They stand the test of time.
My name inside each cover
To distinguish yours from mine.

All buried in our back packs
To take us everywhere,
And contemplate the universe
As we gaze into the air

A world without books.
Such a tragic portend! ! !
And the beginning I'd say
Of an unhappy end.
