Pooja Shanbhag Poems

Those memories still haunt me
I can't sleep at night;
I don't know what to do
I don't know whom to fight.
...

Sometimes, it lasts in love,
But sometimes it just hurts instead;
And now I'm trying to sort it all out
But my heart always wins over my head.
...

Its on lonely rainy days like these
You rise from oblivion and become so real
You hit me like an Indian summer,
You paralyze me beyond what I can feel.

The Mask I Possess

Those memories still haunt me
I can't sleep at night;
I don't know what to do
I don't know whom to fight.

I wish someone would understand me
I wish they could hear my silent screams,
I wish they could feel the way i feel
I wish they could see those scary dreams.

Behind my laughs are a thousand sorrows,
Behind my smile is a breaking heart;
I don't know where this is leading to
I don't know why, I'm falling apart.

Even though I know it very well, that
I can't take anymore of it now,
I keep on bearing it, on and on
I don't know why, I don't know how.

I don't know why this is the way it's meant to be-
What's happened to you? Why can't you see?
It's just an illusion, It's just my mask,
The person i pretend to be Isn't actually me...
