R. L. Allen Poems

That’s just the way it goes,
you know it almost never snows
at Christmas,
...

brighter than the beads
on my necklace you are
no more than four years
have you watched the seasons
...

Everything is going to change.
To quote the words of others,
things are a little strange.
...

Every time I yawn I feel
like my soul is sighing.
...

5.

the room explodes
one massive heartbeat
pumping, pumping
as i dance
...

I feel like I'm living somebody else's life.
It doesn't feel like mine.

I walk around,
...

And every time I think I
have made my decision,

I see you,
...

ride through the desert
like you're chasing your soul
because girl,
you're only getting older
...

February
hanging awkwardly between
winter and spring
...

There is a
part of me
that wishes
you could
...

I've got wings on my soul
I can feel it in my bones.
I feel so light like air,
or a rainbow in the sky.
...

You
used
to
read
...

13.

green-blue eyes
and chocolate hair
falling down your back
...

So many words hanging in the
air like tinsel in the sky
glistening as does
...

just stop talking
i say

because it's not something
...

you could have been perfect

could have been perfect
for me
...

17.

You kissed my hand and said
you'd understand if I had to walk away
and never look back.
...

all this i'm feeling
and you're oblivious
to0 busy hating me
and thinking of reasons
...

These dreams I dream,
you dreamed them too.
Now when I dream,
I dream for you.
...

It took me so very long to say,
I wish you never went away.
All these words I locked inside
now flying free, wings spread wide.
...

The Best Poem Of R. L. Allen

Just The Way It Goes

That’s just the way it goes,
you know it almost never snows
at Christmas,

not since the earth warmed
and made everyone cautious.

That’s just the way life goes,
poppies growing in rows
in November,

remembering all who fell
fighting a battle that wasn’t theirs.

That just how it goes,
always a sunflower grows
tall

and strong, yellow like the sun
in summer and daffodils in spring.

That’s just how it goes,
God is the Father who knows

everything.
