Mo Masedi

Mo Masedi Poems

When Nelson Mandela took leave
In a chariot of fire
To the World Yonder
You could hear the world heave
...

Every year, everywhere
The world pauses
Not to ponder
linger or wonder
...

Happy with the world
He walks his dog
Both are well fed
Nothing bothers them
...

We have our Es'kia
World travelled
In our troubled days
Wielding his mighty pen
...

Anger born of hunger
In the land of plenty
Constipation for some
Hunger for the nation
...

6.

In Africa death is a constant
Avoidable death is our shadow
A cursed halo around our heads
We die every moment in Africa
...

We are supposed to be there
But be inconspicuous
Like the air we feel
But cannot see
...

Mandela

When Nelson Mandela took leave
In a chariot of fire
To the World Yonder
You could hear the world heave

The world's fears
Turned to tears
The world was crying
Reconciliation was frying

Mandela was peace
Gave love a face
Humanity
Strove for humility

Many years in prison
For what they called treason
Failed to break him
He stood firm

He remained a dove
The symbol of love
At his loss
The world turn and toss

Mandela is dead
Who will lead
On that date
We had a date with fate

Will his giant shoes fit
Will we match his stride
Grab his fallen spear
Continue his struggle without fear
