Robbie O'Ryan Biography

Born a poet, abused as a child, the poet went dark and a warrior emerged. Years spent as a warrior, the poet silenced until awakened by love for another 40 years later. The warrior at last retired, the poet has returned. I write of love, and of love lost. I write in honor of she that broke through my shell and awakened the poet who slumbered for so long. She has gone from my life, but her memory lives on in my soul and my words. I called her Venus, a name and legend of great personal meaning to me. I loved her deeply from the depths of my soul... I love her still, truth be told.)

In That Instant

Whilst the kiss is sublime, the most exquisite joy comes
In that instant, just before my lips meet hers
When but the thinnest veil of air separates
And hot breath can be felt, tasted, savored
In that instant, where eyes meet and desire peaks
When all else fades to black in the background
And only her lips exist, a cherry red bliss
In that instant, when man and woman subside
Replaced by lion and lioness, primal and raw
When claws slowly unsheathe and teeth bare
Breathing quickens, skin burns, and hearts pound…
And then… lips touch in a fiery, passionate burst
