Robert Perry Poems

I am full of words. It seems a battle rages here,
Where the music of my dreams somehow accompanies my fear;
As a tumult and a rage, and a terrible display
Of violence, the stage is set to crumble and decay.
...

the colour of your voice
is not difficult to describe;
it's almost the opposite of yellow
but without the harshness.

Your heart has found a friend
You wait so long for Summer's end
Through your window
You watch, and wait for..
...

Dew-droplets on grassy ground, satin spun on fallen leaves,
Stillness echoes all around, air touches it, and as it weaves
Its quiet way, a lone bird sings, a lost voice rising, disavowed
Endeavouring to find her wings, and set upon another cloud,
...

Leaves tumble

Tumble and fall

Wanderer Above The Sea Of Fog

I am full of words. It seems a battle rages here,
Where the music of my dreams somehow accompanies my fear;
As a tumult and a rage, and a terrible display
Of violence, the stage is set to crumble and decay.
Here perched upon this precipice,
The view obscured complete,
Was sky ever as close as this
And yet beneath my feet?

And I am full of words. Yet still they will not come,
They lock themselves inside of me, they beat a muffled drum,
These shards of broken promises, the will to set them free
Is sought but somewhat lacking, far beyond the scope of me.
(I dream that I am falling
From the sky, without a sound
I hear nobody calling
And I race towards the ground) .

I am not so full of vision. This is nowhere I have known,
From this humbling position as far from any throne
There are pieces of the future lying underneath the sky,
Too far beyond my reaching out, and so I do not try;
I cannot see tomorrow
It was here but yesterday
There is only pain and sorrow
And a swirling sea of grey.

So, full of present tenses, I try to make a choice,
To illuminate these images I need to find a voice,
I can only paint a picture for myself, you understand,
They say beauty’s in the eye, but then I’ve held it in my hand.
My mind is like the broiling sea
Below, but to my cost
I find myself so full of words,
Yet still completely lost.

And I burst with music, I have so much to give –
I feel that here is purpose, here is reason to live.
It bubbles up inside of me, erupting into air,
It dances all around me, follows me everywhere.
(I know that when I’m dying,
Follow where you hear the sound
For the music isn’t lying -
This is where I can be found)
