The Walk

"Your steps are slow", said Youth to Age
As he hurried along the road
"And another thing too, if I were you
I'd get rid of that heavy load".

"The path is narrow, there's little room
And I'm way ahead of you".
"I know" said age, to the chafing youth
"Your load is much lighter, that's true".

You dropped Wisdom, Caution, Knowledge and Pain
By the side of the road as you sped.
But I knew you'd need them further on
So I carry them in your stead".
