Hurt

Late at night, I lay in bed
and battle demons in my head
This knot in my chest, of anxiety
has bound my hands, has bound my feet
I beg the lord to set me free,
but shackles bind my hopes, my dreams

I try to fight the hurt inside,
the pain that plagues my heart, my mind
but these days, all that I find
is pain's the only cue that I'm alive

you see me laugh throughout the day,
but I tell those jokes to hide the pain,
the other me comes out at night,
when the enemy beats me till I cry

what is in a tear? This emotion without purpose,
the more I scratch the surface- all I find is brokenness
Late night strolls, I search my soul,
I search the stars for answers,
why is all this happening- this anxiety's a cancer

rain rain go away, come again another day,
my heavy heart is barely beating.
I'm treading water, barely breathing
The sun will rise, the sun will set,
where has gone my happiness

I clasp my hands, and weep in sorrow,
and wonder how ill face tomorrow
I hurt! I hurt! Im shouting now!
I used to smile. I'm broken now.
