Sandi Alford Poems

They come from every walk of life
especially when we're filled with strife.
A smile, a hug, a listening ear-
then all at once we hold them dear.
...

In this book of life we’re given at birth
Its pages blank, awaits verses of worth
Experiences drip upon every page displayed
Love, is but a word conveyed
...

You’ll find me here by weathered stone,
all by myself with grief, alone-
Another year has come and went
with season’s change and heart’s lament.
...

Oh radiant beams from ancient orb above,
come cleanse my soul of bitter cold drawn nigh.
Cast wretched gray away this day I cry-
send rays of light to steal this winter's glove.
...

It’s piled here
then flying there-
there’s gold and copper
everywhere!
...

In each glimpse
of every passing shadow
he's there-
lurking on the eve,
...

Although she
wilts and falls to dust, next
spring she'll bloom in hearty lust, here
in the garden of my dreams aloft and comely.
...

She’s likened to a crystal sphere
once blown an iridescent glaze,
t’was placed upon an evergreen
in honor of more joyous days.
...

I’ve wandered winter’s streets of emptiness
within a shattered heart and mind.
Not once prepared for footsteps
cold- damp-
...

Mem’ries like a recorded song
play silently to heart and mind,
they come at will and cloud all thought
in performance of pantomime.

Angels Amoung Us

They come from every walk of life
especially when we're filled with strife.
A smile, a hug, a listening ear-
then all at once we hold them dear.

They make us realize life's worthwhile.
Our journey ahead seems less than a mile-
With gossamer wings that shimmer unknown
worth more, than the rarest gemstone.

I've learned it's not always big things in life
that touches our heart and causes delight-
It's the little things, which turn tears to a smile
when angels among us, stay awhile.
