Silence Of The Woods

Silence fills the air as I wander through the woods
The gentle song of the meadowlarks sounds all the way to heaven.
My reflection ripples through the waters of the pond
As I admire the trees that rise from the mighty earth.
My soul gazes down onto the fields of flowers, coloring the earth in shades of yellow and white.

The night overtakes the land and masked the flowers in a veil of darkness.
The crickets and bats of night take the place of the birds and grasshoppers of day.
They know not the light and warmth of the sun, only the cold and dark of the moon.
I pity these creatures, for my soul also knows not what the light of the sun offers, for the world hath rejected me and cast me out to the darkness.
