WHO CAN WRITE A POEM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

Who can write a poem in the middle of the night
When the darkness is still everywhere?

I HEARD MY SADNESS WAITING FOR ME

I heard my sadness waiting for me
In words I had never said before-

The night is too long
And the day is too short
And the winter is too cold
And the summer is too hot
...

It is difficult to live with my own failure
As a writer
Perhaps it is especially difficult now
For what hope can I have?
...

The despair of nothing to write
Except writing about nothing to write
The despair of repetition
Of saying again and again
...

I wait in the silence of where I am
For another poem
But now I realize
Perhaps too late
