Awakening

Asleep I was for long
Long in 'seven sleepers' den'
A stinging slap across my
Dream ripped me off
A foul smell of blood and
Gunpowder choked my
Breath.I felt numb
I felt alone, afraid

What is this world I'm in?
Here, a whirl of madness
sinks everything into
An unfathomable deep
What is this world I'm in?
Here a creepy slithery creature
Fastens all into its monstrous
grip, nearly strangling them to death!

Is it not in vain
That life grows in a land
Of the half-dead, betrayed,
beguiled and disgraced?
They lay wide awake
beneath the faded Moon,
waiting with tied hands and feet
like dead leaves, waiting
to be crushed, to be swept away
to the bank of Lethe.

Let them loose, let them loose
Oh Lord! Oh Lord residing within!
Let them rise and fight
till they bleed and cross
The howling Pyriphlegethon
to bring back Life and Truth
from Hell, the realm of Hades.

Note: According to Greek mythology, Pyriphlegethon is one of the Infernal river of Fire.
