Stubbed Out

Stubbed Out

You're saying you might leave again,
and I can't breathe.
Though it won't be today
it will be a tomorrow
That comes round too soon

And I can't breathe.

I'm choking on your exhaled air,
as it leaves your lungs
and reaches mine
You're gonna leave me in time

And I can't breathe

You are everything
I don't want you to mean to me.
I am stubborn and stubbed out,
like a cigarette refusing to die
After parting with your mouth.

Still I taste you
And I can't breathe

It's a feeling I won't forget,
don't extinguish me just yet
I may have parted with your hands
I may have reached the ground
But I'll always be the ashes,
that still want you around.
And I'll always be reminded
of the temporary perfection we found.

I think only of this future pain,
And I can't breathe
