Overprotective Parents

My parents don’t believe in me,
What should I do?
They feel I am lying to them,
Saying, ‘’I don’t have faith in you! ’’

I want to go to sleepovers,
Shop with my friends, and go and hang out,
But whenever I open my mouth to ask them,
They tell me off and shout.

Why are my parents so protective?
Oh why, oh why, oh why?
They never let me out of their sight,
And hate to say goodbye.

When I sit at the computer,
And check Facebook, MySpace, Bebo,
They say it is not homework,
The dishes need doing, now go!

I go off to school in the morning,
Thinking, ‘‘this day will be great.’’
My hopes are dashed when my parents say,
‘‘Don’t you dare come home late! ’’

Why are my parents so protective?
Oh why, oh why, oh why?
They never let me out of their sight,
And hate to say goodbye.

Maybe they’ll learn to let go
And realize I am grown.
I think they nag me because
They have no life of their own.
