Suki Nakamura Poems

on a lonely night like this
i envy the stars
i miss the moon and
the cool shadows of trees
...

after a night of love
you take back your arms
and you start your journey again
...

a dragonfly with a red tail
and gossamer wings
and bright blue body
comes through my window
...

attuned to your verbal abuse
look at you, haven't you noticed?

you have become an empty gong
...

thinking about
you is
sweet sour.
...

Upon a wish shall she build
The pillar of her life

Upon her dreams shall she
...

before mother died
she gave me this tea cup

white porcelain
...

a white butterfly
rests on a blue curtain
it is very still
i have second thoughts now
...

her face is like a mongo bean
her hair like corn husks

she is fat and wears a lavender dress
...

because papa
loves me so much
he comes back
now in the body
...

footsteps on the pavement
nearing the door of the house beside a hill
though still far
...

in your dream be
a white butterfly and
then gently flutter inside
my dream where i am
...

sakura petals
falling like snow on the ground

not melting like

Dear Suki,

It's been so long now since we said hello. I don't know what's become of you and yet worry and can't help but miss your company. I wish we had started on a better foot...really I tried to be kind. I'm not sure where your kind words ended and the sarcasm began but I miss you anyway because of a feeling...one in which I was touched by a sense of longing in you, an older spirit...an injured one and still I imagined a beautiful heart underneath all. I don't forget that feeling though I try to tell myself it's no use to wish. My heart doesn't yet understand....so I still miss you and like to believe in brighter things...though it hurts much sometimes to hang on to bright hopes.

seeing two white swans
floating on the clear pond
so close to each other
against a gray horizon

mad at my arms
i promise not to stretch them
keep them
tied to my body with a
...

when i fall down
i decide not to rise
from where i fall
i simply sit there
...

sorry sorry sorry
but i am not a brother's keeper

my hands tremble

could be the fish
disturbed in the pond
making the ripples

The Best Poem Of Suki Nakamura

On A Lonely Night Like This

on a lonely night like this
i envy the stars
i miss the moon and
the cool shadows of trees

on a lonely night like this
in the desert of my
dryness, i long for the rain
and the fog and the mist

on a lonely night like this
i begin to think
about you:

how are you death?
