You tell me you’re leaving
Just for a swim in the ocean
But we both know what sinking
Feels like
...

I look at my friends and know they will never leave me
But I miss their faces because I only get to see them weekly
Who will wipe her eyes when she can’t get out of the box they put her in?
Who will hug him in the night when they see what he doesn’t do for them?
...

Let her walk.

Take away everything I am
Let all the materials that defined me fade away
...

This Ocean

You tell me you’re leaving
Just for a swim in the ocean
But we both know what sinking
Feels like

You are barely gone

You come back to find me
Throw me your life in a line
Stay afloat for another day

I am almost gone

Swimming in circles
The moon laughs at what we are holding onto
I am drying up
You don’t remember the swells that make up my body
I don’t want to remember when you did

The hurt of what we had is too painful
To bear in light of what we don’t
So many souls at sea
Why hang on to just one?

We are gone.

One day I see you standing in the sun
Waves surround you
Sunbeams grace your heart
You are so full of light
It finds our darkest place and gives peace
To what we couldn’t be
Together

I only hope if she is the ocean
You are going to drown in that
She is deeper than me.
