Terry L. Allen Poems

Time slows and age runs fast
to try and catch the heart
that remembers how to play and laugh
...

She stood at the sink with
her head in her hands.

Fully knowing this wasn't
...

Sunset like a cotton candy world full of color
fills the evening sky with mock representations
of the world below, now drift and float by.
...

morning rapture
the sun breached the sky
with ambient glow
...

heavens tears
in hot desert sands
frogs eyes peek
...

Beneath the hanging branches
of the weeping willow tree.

Along the winding river
so very hard to see.
...

When I and me become we
and times threaten reverse.

When we stay the course
in opposition to today's prevail
...

When my days are over
and the good Lord
calls me home.
...

When asked how am I today.
This is my reply.

Not good
Not bad
Just me.
...

in heavens tear drops
beauty springs from desert hell
a cactus flower
...

Nothing in the world so disarming
so charming in it's domain.

No matter if it's from across the room
or two feet away it's all the same.

A Young Heart

Time slows and age runs fast
to try and catch the heart
that remembers how to play and laugh

The somber and severe become
sour and jaded with no joy
Their inner child cast aside
like a broken toy
who's value in repair they fail to see

Oblivious they progress without clue one
of the magnatude they'll pay in cost
till long after they have paid the fee.
