Remember Marikana

remember marikana
no one is too young to die
nor too strong to live
minds spoke the word of generosity
i was too young to argue
yet too wise to know
that they were innocent
the stones and sticks they carried were to little
to harm a soul
but still too vague to get them killed
in this moment i remember marikana
a black mans destiny is to stand in front of a bullet
which is too sharp to live a soul branding life
marikana speak peace onto these minds
carry no blood but struggle for freedom
i am reminded of the sharpville massacre
where blood was not the only thing carried
but corpses as well
when it marikana i remember
i just know the black stone keeps on rolling
and too little has happened
marikana miners has only seen red and not blood it self
ashes will only burn
and dust will seize away
for i not only remember marikana
but the victims pure self
they were innocent
and i was too young to argue
forgive me but my age stopped me
now my only brothers are dead
and i am only left to write this poem
when it marikana i think of
lot of memories sift the tears out of me
and i am only left to recite
marikana i remember you
cause you have the bones that created me
even the skin i shedded
marikana may your soul rest in peace.
