Not all have the rosy glow of fine wine
Painful memories may bleed of red…
not visible… but still burning like acid

You can take my picture out of the frame
and replace it with another of acclaim
You can try to forget the love we shared
You can act as though you no longer care

Aunt Laura was growing old
she used a walker so she wouldn't fall
her shoulders were slightly slouched
but she held herself proud and tall

The colors of a springtime bouquet;
Pink, green and doe skin brown...
like the Dogwood blossoms seeking
warm sunlight… as tree tops crown

Hats for a royal wedding grace
the attendee's heads… some are standouts
Among the most popular are fascinators
attracting glances and comments all about

You are in my every breath
You lift my eyes to the sky
I am thankful for each day
Upon your heavenly presence… I rely

You can choose to remain inside
and look through the open window blinds
But consider this… go outside and enjoy
Listen to the sounds of bees, birds and chimes

A small fluttering bird flew under the valance
Its feathers were neon blue and pastel yellow
It sang like no other…its notes were very rare
Befuddled… it flew into a bowl of red jello

A comfortable place behind closed doors...
a place where I have grown and matured
This is where I find myself to be complete
There is no other place like this for sure

Many thoughts are happy… some are sad
Today is the anniversary of your dying…
