The pupils expand,
letting in more light.
But this is the last thing,
he needs tonight.
...

Blasphemy. A hideous creature with nasty whiplash.
Take it by the horns and snap the neck.
Cut the source.
Send it back to where it came from.
...

Once a prodigy, now despondent.
How does such a transition come to pass?
The crown that has awaited him all his life corrodes in rust with each passing season.
Potential is diluted and the spectators all shake their heads in disappointment.
...

The aches are numberless.
The sores? They only multiply.
Evidence of disheartening now emerges through the lines in his face.
Discourse on the limits of reason; the foot of the mountain.
...

I used to see white when I closed my eyes.
These days only the darkest of blacks reach my shut optics.
But I guess that can happen when all light is eclipsed by lids that seem to bare such a dark perspective of the surrounding world.
An extreme fading of mindset has taken place; the contrast is indisputable.
...

She sips from the hollowed out skulls of her past mistakes.
To learn something. Anything.
To take it all in.
If re-examination is the key, and self-correction the result, what of the victim?
...

Too often, progression is confused with digression.
Too often, we find ourselves to be content with the ebb and flow of entities that bring unsatisfaction.
One need only test the architecture of a leader to find faults within the supports.
This is an urging, a plea.

Sometimes they seem like the characters of a grandiose production, the people of this world.
Actors, every single one of them.
Some with an abundance of lines, some remain silent.
If one thing is certain, it's that everyone will play a part.
...

In a world void of self-consciousness, chaos reigns.
Outrage multiplies like amoebae and fists are propelled towards the sky,
the majority of them clenching one-way tickets to perdition.
The earth is no longer a good place.
...

The whole concept of morality is decaying.
Before our very eyes, it slips away; one ideal at a time.
How much longer will our conscience give way to trends and fashion?
At what point, and at what cost will we stop seeking the acceptance of those that do not even see clearly?
...

I made eye contact with destiny this morning.
Now I'm not all too positive she liked what she saw because she made sure to keep moving along at the same pace.

But I mean, maybe things are better that way anyhow.
I've begun to come to terms with the fact that there's no grand prophecy for me to live out in the first place.
...

My greatest fear is that the final words I emit will be, 'I'm confused.'
It's a tragedy to me that not only is this scenario possible; but it's beginning to take on the formation of absolute certainty.

The years I've spent in this world violently envelope me in a fierce whirlwind that others have ridiculously termed 'life.'

It's rather fitting that I can't understand their wise sayings... those inspiring quotes regarding how the world works, for the howls of the wind are far more convincing of my fate than the words of a know-it-all caught up in a storm of their own.
...

It was in my weakest moments that I realized my spark had gone.
Back against the underpass, pills spilling to the dirt.
Losing my grip and cognition, I could feel it all slipping away.
But wasn't that the point?

A Different Perspective

The pupils expand,
letting in more light.
But this is the last thing,
he needs tonight.
If he can make it through the next three hours,
He may escape from this maze of towers.
Attempting to blow off the world, the world blew his mind.
Looking on as everything swirled, the earth was redefined.
Arriving at the summit, the peak of his confusions,
Certainty will plummet, with the birth of new illusions.
Gravity lessens it's grip, the air seems to lift him.
Letting his consciousness slip, he lets the room shift him.
Hands shaking, eyes open wide.
Confidence breaking, with every stride.
Never before had his intelligence faltered,
But not until now, had his thoughts been altered
