Udisha Nundlal Poems

In 2055
Will I be alive?

I have dreams of
...

Sunlight fading
A warm kitchen inviting
A cosy fire enticing
Ceylon tea brewing
...

Bonded by a sacred thread
Nine months ago
A fragile web of hopes and dreams unsaid
Spun around a precious cargo
...

Red's riding in the hood
Scarf on her head
Lady's looking good
...

In 2055
Will I be alive?

I have dreams of
Flying cars
And trips to Mars

Most of all
I'm worried about global warming
Greenhouse gases, melting ice caps, earth drowning

In 2055
I want to be alive
To breathe clean fresh air
Will humans dare to care?
To save the polar bear

In 2055
I want to stroll through a green park
Children laughing while dogs bark
No fear, no crime
Free and safe
Time after time

In 2055
I will be there
Older and maybe some grey hair
With polar bears
And flying cars to Mars
A world free from wars

I have dreams
That the humans would have dared
To have cared
To be there in 2055
