The Weight

What is the weight of a man's soul?
it weighs less than a speck of dust in a whirlwind
and that soul is just one of billions
each with a dream of its own
each unlike the others it knows
each filled with hope,
as first blown into the storm.
There it clings to nothing but itself
like a drunken god
like bacchus or mars
at war with itself.
He rails blindly out of control
self-destructive with murderous intent
then suddenly becoming calm
as if in the eye of the storm
he feel weighted to the earth
grounded with purpose.
What is the weight of a man's soul?
it weighs less than nothing
until love weights him down
with baggage.
