Pungent effluvia, choking stench and fear grips the land
Dry bones, rocks and no water, emptiness, smoldering landscapes and dry, dry land
The birds and animals all deserted but for vultures and hyenas having a feast
Plants and trees withering like petals under the scotching sun

Memories
Drip! Drip! Drip!
Rain drops falling on my roof
Drip as they fall, memories to bring
...

I give shelter to all, but none shelters me.
I have seen rain, sun and wind.
But still I stand and stand I will for generations.
Age makes me stronger…stronger than the chainsaws that nibble at my legs
