Charles R. McCarthy Poems

How I yearn for those good old days
when mother was up and around
and the tasks she had to face each day
I still find hard to compound
...

Now you know I want to love you
But do you know what love is dear?
Is that feeling deep inside of us
That can make those dark clouds disappear
...

Now I guess I will have to light another candle
Because the one I lit before has lost its glow
It brings back many a fond recollection of the moments that we shared not long ago

A Tribute To Mother

How I yearn for those good old days
when mother was up and around
and the tasks she had to face each day
I still find hard to compound

Mother was as grand as a mother can be
and she will always remain in my heart
yet she fades away like a morning star
like a dream that has fallen apart

Her tenure on earth was a holy thing
A host of heavenly grace
yet her passing was awesome filled with woe
an undefined sort of pace

She has gone to a place that still must be
a sacred mystery to you and me

If your souls is still sad and much in despair
your spirit can be lifted with a pious prayer
and one by one we fall asleep
May God unite us - eternally to keep.
