After I have crossed, the great sea of rivers
Pray, I beg thee

Because you see me smile and smile
And laugh with only my teeth
You think that all is well
And do not know

Nigeria,
You are the prodigal
Basking,
In the glory
...

Your surface
Is the enthralling sea
Speaking of great depths.
...

If the heavens above permit
One day, sky and earth shall meet.

We are all poets
Though we use not
Verses or rhymes.

I have seen how nature deals with you
Tenderly, and softly
Like egg
Like hidden treasure.
