Cordell Sundstrom Poems

Here in a desert with water in hand,
The taste is stale and life feels so bland,
Looking through a telescope, see a city, could be a star,
But my legs are too weak to carry me that far.
...

The soles are soaked wet,
The laces are worn,
My arches ache,
And my passions are torn.

The Desert

Here in a desert with water in hand,
The taste is stale and life feels so bland,
Looking through a telescope, see a city, could be a star,
But my legs are too weak to carry me that far.

Stuck on this plateau, with no way down,
My thoughts only leave me here to frown,
Knowing that reckless ways have got me here,
Thinking the present becomes the future is something I fear.

I see an oasis not too far,
Realizing my current situation is just subpar,
Now is the time, while the cool breeze is blowing,
To gather the strength, and keep on going.
