Through pestilence, famine, death, war
Vowing to fight for better or worse
As if it was worth fighting for

Before my eyes, webs of truth were twirled
From my dreams broken on the ground;
I’m searching for purpose in a world
Where there’s no purpose to be found

In a one-sided war of attrition
Man will fight until his dying day
But should he just let go of ambition
The meaning of time is stripped away

Where are your eyes?
You’re lost with them shut
Why not tell lies?
We’ve miles to walk, but

Indifference his name; Self gain his plot
Like a lamb, he sets up his ruse
Lures his victims with no second thought,
No remorse and nothing to lose

I strive
I love
I pray
I breathe
...

The paths which strangers actions do condone
Are surely the most natural of signs
I’ve found a path that I can call my own
I want to live no other life than mine
...

Who’s to blame for walking by
When it’s so easy not to care
Beneath a mop of tangled hair
Beneath a pale winter sky
...

I see her tears and part of me dies
And pray that hope is reflected in me
But the emptiness in those hazel eyes
Is the only reflection I see
...

Bewildered and frightened, I walked one night
Unsure of whether to run or be still
When my eyes beheld such a welcome sight-
A lovely candle, glowing on a hill
