David Reeves Poems

In a toy shop high on a shelf
I sat as days went by
Watching all my friends be bought
As Christmas Eve drew nigh.
...

When my life begins so way up high
And I float to you from the sky,
How can you tell it's really me
For only flakes of snow you see.
...

As I lie in my bed I hear a
Sound
Of jingle bells playing all
Around
...

It's so dark inside the box is
where I live most of every year,
But I'm always so excited
when December time draws near.
...

Though winter brings us snow and ice
it brings us Christmas too,
A time of year that we all love
when there's so much to do.
...

Dear Santa is it true that you can
fly,
In Rudolph's sleigh up in the
sky,
...

I look out of my window and
Watch the snowflakes fall
Turning Autumn into winter as
They cover the grassy floor
...

O're the ground fresh snow lays thick
No footprints can you see
So new the snow no one has trod
Not even you or me
...

Santa, though you live so far
away
I would love to visit you one
day

Damaged Teddy Bear

In a toy shop high on a shelf
I sat as days went by
Watching all my friends be bought
As Christmas Eve drew nigh.

A damaged Teddy Bear was I
Just waiting to be sold
Though no one came to look at me
As I sat alone and cold.

But as tiny tears fell from my eyes
A fairy floated by
And as she waived her pretty wand
She said please don't cry.

Santa Claus has sent me to find
A special Teddy Bear
For a little girl who asked for one
In her bedtime prayer.

So on Christmas Eve tied with a bow
Santa laid me by her side
And when she awoke and looked at me
Tears of joy she cried.

With her little arms around me
I filled her heart with joy
For I had so much love to give
Though just a broken toy.
