His redneck workmates tease him at least that's what he said
They say such rude things to him like we've taken your girl to bed
They've doused his sandwiches in petrol and put salt in his flask of tea
And they've made life in the workplace for him a misery.

You cannot be true to others if to your higher self you are not true
If your narrow ways of selfishness you only do pursue
You well may read your bible but you take and never give
And you do ignore the basic law of live and let live,

In uderstanding people I've a long way to go
And even those close to me that I think I do know
I do not know that well I've come to realize
The workings of Human Nature never cease to surprise

You've climbed the highest mountain and swam in the roughest sea
And with pride you wore the colours of your Nationality
And you are a National hero street signs even have your name
But in ways you seem quite ordinary despite your World wide fame.

To those i have sinned against of your forgiveness i beg
And you who have sinned against me you i do forgive
For what time I've got left i wish for peace with myself
Or in other words i want to live and let live.

In the paddock above the ocean the butcherbird pipes on a wattle tree
And the huge surf waves can be seen rolling from the cliffs where the land meets the sea
And above the din of the high tide the sea birds wild cries one can hear
Even when I am far from saltwater the saltwater to my heart is near.

If You respect yourself respect to others you'll show
Never judge a person that you do not know
But your political leaders feel free to praise or to criticize
Since their decisions impact on you that you must realize

His only crime was to live good and decent
And the day he was murdered a dream was destroyed
He stood by El Salvador's poor and downtrodden
And he lived for the people and for them he died.

In the Snowy mountain country where the Snowy river flow
The temperatures at zero and the winds of Winter blow
And the hungry fox is barking out there on the moonlit hill
His voice re-echoes in the silence something loud and wild and shrill.

Your better days in life in decades gone by
And though not very successful your best you did try
And that is all you can do and that is your best
At least you were willing when put to the test.
